All Anejo tequila must be aged for one year according to Mexican law. But El Tesoro Anejo is aged for two to three years in oak barrels. Which is why its full and balanced flavor is known as one of the world’s best sipping tequilas.

Julio Gonzalez Estrada, otherwise known the founder of Don Julio Tequila, died March 20th at his home in Atotonilco, Guadalajara, Jalisco. He was 87 years old.

Don Julio Tequila came to be lauded for quality worldwide. Julio was the real deal, growing up working the fields with his family and starting his own distillery, Tres Magueyes, in 1942 at the age of 17.

In 1985, Don Julio's sons commemorated his 60th birthday by creating a tequila in his name, and thus was born Don Julio, the tequila.
